In all seriousness (I don't think Tevez is a diver at all -- not in the mould of Ronaldo et al anyway -- I was just yanking yer chain) I can entirely see why Caldwell was sent off. However having rewatched the incident numerous times, I think perhaps the ref was a bit over-the-top with his immediate red card. He should have taken a moment to consult his assistants to ascertain whether Caldwell actually wanted to hurt Tevez - which I don't think he did, it was just the tackle was reckless. A more experienced ref would probably have given a yellow.

Nonetheless, the incident did actually kill the game as a spectacle, but Vladimir Stojkovic drove the final nail in the coffin. Had he not acted like Superman when he came charging out on the first goal, I daresay we might have had a chance to hold on for a draw.

Tevez was the difference for me, though I still reckon we could have prevented him from scoring, after all, we did in October.

Paul, you're being too kind... all my articles are fantastically biased, but then again isn't all football about extreme opinions? :)

I don't think you're being that biased Dan. I was at the game and can agree with you. For the whole first half, Wigan were bossing the midfield and we (City) weren't getting forward in numbers - the midfield wasn't looking forward to support the forwards.

It meant when Johnson or Tevez or Adebayor got through, they might try a shot or to go round somebody and Wigan's defense could comfortably clear.

Whilst City still had the majority of the possession in the first half, the was nothing and I mean nothing between the teams.

The game hinged on a couple a things in my view. Shaun Wright-Phillips who was poor being replaced by the much more energetic Bellamy and the red card.

Going down to 10 in numbers isn't necessarily an immediate disadvantage, as 10 men can get everyone behind the ball and sometimes even lift their game, but last night it seemed to stir us to get that confidence back and drive forward.

The possession and attacks from City dramatically rose and a sparkling Tevez was then too much to handle. The result was fair, the scoreline flattered.

I'm sure you can get out of the danger zone and hopefully we can do you a favour this weekend by beating Burnley.

"To suggest Tevez is somehow a diver is hilarious"

Not worth replying to simply for that comment. Sorry :D

I can understand your ridiculous biased, being a Wigan fan but lets have the facts correct, your lot were targetting Tevez for the whole game he was fouled six or seven times, some of them defninite yellow cards and nothing was given. When Caldwell, the perputual red card man 'tackled' him he scissored him ending up throwing Tevez to the ground with both feet wrapped around him.

It was a reckless and desperate tackle from a player who is lacking in skill and makes up for it in aggression.

To suggest Tevez is somehow a diver is hilarious, and to suggest that you should 'perhaps even have been winning' because you had two chances all game, both of which resulted in pathetically poor shots is laughable at best.

Addendum: Attwell struggled to stay in control of the game and made some key errors. I have no idea how Scharner got away with that barge -- the petulant so and so.
