If this were in Britain, there would be three kids playing wallie against the steps.

US Capitol, Washington
If this were Britain, there would be three kids kicking a round ball against the steps.

They don’t call me the Fastest Gun in the West… because I’m not. International Latics fan Mike, however, can be described as such – just hours after landing in the UK he was participating in the latest edition of that podcast. No, not the one presented by that chuckling northern idiot Yack, but the professional operation with more than half a dozen followers.

For those listening from the North of America, enjoy your turkey sandwiches topped off by three helpings of turkey broth on Sunday. I’m a fan of birds (by which I mean poultry), but endless turkey leftovers have almost been my ultimate downfall in winters past. As have stressful Latics matches, but I’m quite looking forward to this packed festive period. Mind you, ask me again on Friday morning and the answer may be quite different…

Contents: A warm welcome to American correspondent Mike (1:43); extended Brighton post-mortem [oooh yeah!] (4:06); the captaincy issue and strikers (16:20); Europa preview – Zulte Waregem (27:30); Derby preview (38:48)

Get involved!

Progress With Unity is currently the only Wigan Athletic fan podcast on the web. If you wish to get involved or have any topics you’d like to be discussed, please get in touch with Barry at wigan@vitalfootball.co.uk, marking your email PWU Podcast.

Statistics show half of all JWAW viewers use mobiles or tablet devices, which is curious as I didn’t think babies or graveyard dwellers (i.e. dead people) listened to the ‘cast. See, the reach of Progress With Unity is seemingly endless! I don’t know how those iTunes, RSS and app pages work, but they are evidently some sort of magical inter-dimensional communication method. Intriguing indeed! For those zombies reading, I encourage you to leave messages… from beyond the grave.
