Sorry to be pe-trollin’ you with that title and image caption, but I thought I’d prepare you for the manic media meltdown that is Transfer Deadline Day (always capitalised). On that basis, we have to cover it, eh? Please find attached a 14-page document outlining the skills and attributes of each Latics player as determined…
Hangovers are invariably horrendous, and I’m not just talking about the films. I’m dreading that sobering up process even more than a marathon of said movie franchise, as after a spot of Callum McChamomile tea, I’m afraid I will discover that half the team has disappeared… and not just because my drunken double vision will…
It’s OK, we’re fine. What did you expect, a second winless week to have us all negative? Heh, well you’re… correct, actually. It seems our enthusiasm has departed on a plane to Orlando, and it’s already ridden the Back To The Future Ride three times. I can think of four chaps who also wish they…
If you’ve ever watched the London Marathon on television, you’ll have noticed how competitors always save some energy for the final 200 metre sprint. During the 26 miles up to that point, they help each other along the way by taking the lead for stretches, sharing laborious legwork. The Championship run-in is much the same:…
So you thought you might like to listen to the show? To hear the noise of delusion, PWU’s Facebook-esque… erm, moan? Hmm, I never was much of a lyricist. Also it’s a good job they’re changing the copyright law, otherwise I might have been receiving a call from Roger Waters’ legal team for those first…
~ PWU Episode 60 JWAW Agenda. ~ In the first paragraph I will introduce this particular episode of the podcast, probably with some ‘witty’ or cynical comment because I ran out of relevant humorous quips and topics for discussion precisely five years ago. In this paragraph I shall uncomfortably stutter my way through a joke…
Please excuse me if I seem a tad cranky today as I am not used to getting up before noon for the sake of a football match, even if this particular contest *was* taking place in the Fish and Chip Capital of the North. No amount of battered pollock (the cod quotas were exhausted, allegedly)…
*Monotonic A-Team ringtone* What’s that, Chief O’Riley? The fiendish International Fixtures Man has been truncating the domestic calendar for those involved in Europa Cup ties again? This looks like a job for… the Affectionate Sarcasm Crew! No, Obscure References Man, you can’t be involved in this one. Stay here and sort our Doctor Who DVD…
This game was, quite simply, a must win for Latics. Anything other than three points would make the task of remaining in the Premier League for at least one more season an incredible task in all likelihood beyond a side struggling to find the target, let alone score. Though it can’t be denied our performances…
You may well say I am not qualified to comment on yesterday’s game considering I wasn’t there and didn’t even watch it on telly or listen to it on WISH. And you’d be right, especially since I have yet to watch any highlights or take in any post-match reaction save for Martinez’s brief comments for…
This was supposed to be the game Wigan found its feet again, but transpired to be another night to forget as Blackpool ran riot at Bloomfield Road. Changes were expected, and Martinez certainly went to town in that respect, retaining just two of the players that started the Manchester United game. But Blackpool were not…
I think it would be best to write off Saturday as a bad day at the office and concentrate on the immediate future. After all, you don’t get relegated based on one result… at least hopefully not. A bit of a diversion first, though, as next on the radar are Championship climbers and local rivals…
